Trump was elected to be the peacemaker; he stood firm against official Washington’s war-happy tendencies. Like Reagan before him, Trump advocates a “peace through strength” position and is only willing to go to war when it is in our vital national interest, not just because John McCain said so. In spite of this, the Syria situation puts us much closer to war than we appreciate, as Russia is allied with Syria with their military on the ground there, putting us one incident away from losing control of the situation.  
 
Because of the Russia hysteria that has gripped Washington, he may have his hand forced by the war party, made up of swamp things in both parties. He’s in a tough spot because if he is anything but aggressive with Russia, they will claim he’s Putin’s puppet. We have a list of five good reasons why we should tread lightly because this isn’t what President Trump signed up for; reason number 5 is deadly serious.
