The liberal media’s frothing contempt for Donald Trump reached a new low yesterday. A few people who think Donald Trump’s vulgarity and contempt for norms disqualifies him from the presidency expressed their frustration by attacking Trump’s innocent son Barron.
Talk about rank hypocrisy.
First there was SNL writer Kate Rich, whose deleted Tweet was captured by the Washington Examiner’s T. Becket Adams:

Then there was Fox Sports writer Pete Blackburn:

As Caruso and Adams point out, several years ago a Capitol Hill staffer, Liz Lauten, Tweeted offhand comments about the Obama daughters during the turkey pardoning several years ago. Here’s Lauten’s comments:
“Try showing a little class,” Elizabeth Lauten, communications director for Rep. Stephen Lee Fincher (Tenn.), wrote Friday in a Facebook posting addressed to Sasha, 13, and Malia, 16, chastising them for their comportment during last week’s annual turkey pardoning event at the White House.
“Rise to the occasion. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at the bar,” Lauten wrote. “And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events.”
Lauten’s comments were unnecessary and certainly beneath someone whose job is to be a strategic communicator, but let’s recall what happened next. She apologized, but the media didn’t let her off the hook. No, they went nuclear. As Mollie Hemingway noted at the Federalist:
Still, what in the world was the media doing reporting on this non-story and firing up the mob? The Washington Free Beacon reported that “major media outlets are pouring resources into tracking her moves and digging into her past.” This included two network news vans camping outside of her parents’ home in North Carolina and a search of Lauten’s leaked juvenile records and college writings.
This is insanity and each and every person involved should be ashamed of himself or herself. If you were involved, you are a big part of what’s wrong with journalism and you need to check yourself.
Again, Lauten criticized the dress and manners of the Obama girls, and the media sent trucks to her house. The Washington Post wrote eleven stories about it, and dug into her high school and college records.
These people suggested that the president’s ten year old son is a serial killer. We fully expect the mainstream media to commit the brunt of their resources to getting to the bottom of their character any minute now.
We’re kidding. They will totally ignore this.
It’s almost like they’re biased.
