CNN Obsessed with Criticizing Trump

CNN is obsessed with criticizing President Donald Trump—according to an analysis of their airtime.

A new Media Research Center survey looked at one day of CNN coverage—and found that 92 percent of airtime was dedicated to Donald Trump.

Subtracting out time for commercials and non-news programming, CNN spent 12 hours and 19 minutes on issues related to Trump—and just 1 hour and 8 minutes on the issues related to literally any other topic.

It’s no surprise that the President of the United States would dominate coverage, but what is surprising was how relentlessly negative their coverage was. Just 6 percent of guests or panelists who discussed Trump on CNN did so favorably.

Since he announced his bid for the White House in June 2015, Trump has attracted the lion’s share of media attention—as the mainstream media decided that the larger-than-life tycoon was great for ratings.

However, many in the media were horrified to find out that their coverage essentially translated into free publicity—helping Trump sail through the Republican primaries, and beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in November.

In large part because of the media’s relentless negative coverage of Trump, and their clear partisan bias in favor of Democrats like Hillary Clinton, just 32 percent of Americans now say they have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the mainstream media—the lowest level in polling history.
