CNN’s Wild Trump Accusation

On Tuesday CNN host Don Lemon doubled down on comments that he made accusing President Trump of treason against the United States.

According to Town Hall:

Tuesday evening during his primetime show on CNN, Lemon continued to double down on his earlier suggestions.  Lemon even went so far as to quote the Constitution on his show, Article III, Section III which addresses treason, according to NewsBusters.

“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

“No President has every been charged with treason Douglas, do you believe the President’s actions fall anywhere within that definition?,” Lemon questioned CNN’s Presidential Historian Douglas Brinkley.

Brinkley began his response by referencing Vice President Aaron Burr in 1807 who was charged with treason. “The problem with the enemy…is that Russia is not officially right now considered an enemy of the United States,” said Brinkley.

Brinkley went on to state that these charges if brought, would not stick because of the legal language. Or possibly, because there is no treason that occurred.
