Conservative Rockstar Betrays Her Audience, Comes Out as Pro Choice on Liberal TV Show

Full disclosure: We’ve enjoyed Tomi Lahren’s work for quite some time. For the last few years, she’s been an unapologetic voice for conservatism in America. She’s helped promote some of our authors, and for that we’re grateful.

But today, she crossed a line.

The “conservative” firebrand who appears more concerned with being famous than being conservative went on the View and betrayed her rational, God fearing audience, presumably in an attempt to appeal to liberals and build her brand.  As the Libertarian Republic reports:

Conservative firebrand and Blaze TV personality Tomi Lahren appeared on “The View” on Friday, where she opened up about a position a lot of conservatives may find to be a deal breaker.

Lahren, who is pushing against a cornerstone for many conservatives, explained to panelist of “The View:”

I’m pro-choice and here is why,” Lahren said. “I am someone that loves the Constitution, I am someone that is for limited government, so I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies. Stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well.”

This is an embarrassing admission from someone who purports to be an unapologetic, no nonsense conservative. Here’s Lahren, in the lion’s den, with an opportunity to stand up for the dignity of the unborn and the inalienable human right to life, parroting the dopiest liberal talking point: “My body my choice.”

Well, here’s the thing Tomi. You’re free to do what you want with “your body.” But the tiny life growing inside you, that’s a product of your conscience decision to engage sexual intercourse, fully recognizing that intercourse ends in pregnancy, the formation of a unique human life that is very much not “your body.” As the Federalist’s Daniel Payne so brilliantly notes:

Embryology is very clear on this point: from the moment of conception onward there exists in a woman’s uterus a genetically distinct, fully individual human being. A pregnant woman shouldn’t be allowed to kill this human being or harm him in any way.

So an unborn baby is an individual. Conservatives, ACTUAL CONSERVATIVES, believe in the primacy of the individual, regardless of social class or origin. That regardless of the circumstances of our birth, we’re all entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Most of us hold that right sacred. Human dignity, particularly when it comes to the innocent, is a big deal. As Gracy Olmstead notes:

But an older, perhaps more classical conception of human dignity reaches beyond the circumstantial, and speaks to the very core of who we are as human beings. It is founded upon the idea of human life as sacred, as imago dei, meaning that no matter the circumstances of a person’s life, he or she is precious and immeasurably valuable. This is perhaps the greatest of all equalizers: no matter the place or culture, the poverty or vulnerability, each life matters. And this is why, under this conception of human dignity, the unborn child cannot be left out.

This is something conservatives understand, whether they’ve thought about it or not. It’s how we live our lives. We help the vulnerable in our community, we raise money for frends and neighbors that get sick, and we comfort those who have lost a dear relative. When a friend loses a pregnancy, we mourn for their lost child, and we offer them compassion and support. We all understand that life is short and precious.

We can forgive Lahren for being young. She admits that she “doesn’t read a lot,” and that she has “a short attention span.”  She was handed an opportunity by a carnival barking madman who spent the last ten years pretending to be conservative based on one viral rant. But she needs to realize that whether she wants to be or not, she’s a now a role model for a generation of young conservatives. Her unapologetic style makes her appealing and people are going to start looking to her for guidance.

She need to start reading. She needs to start thinking critically about serious cultural matters that get to the very core of conservatism and individual rights and she needs to avoid handing moral victories to degenerate liberals. Otherwise, she’s nothing more than a false prophet that will lead conservatives astray. If brevity is her thing, we’d like to recommend Judge Andrew Napolitano’s position on the issue:
