Dems Blasted As RACISTS In Alabama Senate Election

Democratic Senate candidate in Alabama, Doug Jones, is facing backlash after his campaign sent a racially-charged flyer to black residents.

Jones is locked in a tight race with Republican Roy Moore, who several women accused of sexual misconduct when they were teenagers. (RELATED: Roy Moore Accuser Makes SHOCKING Admission)

The flyer first debuted on social media. It depicts a young black man looking skeptical, as a headline reads: “Think if a black man went after high school girls anyone would try to make him a senator?”

The flyer is an apparent reference to Moore, but Jones’s supporters were livid — condemning the flyer as out-of-touch and even racist. It’s believed to have originated with the upper echelon of the Jones campaign itself.

Michael Harriot, writing for The Root, a blog and news site aimed at African-Americans, wrote that the flyer might cost Jones the election and that “the entire Democratic Party is trash.”

“Someone, probably a white man, thought that the image would resonate with black people and motivate them to get out the vote,” fumed Harriot. “It’s as if black people were considering voting for the child molester until some brilliant strategist posited, “What if he were black, though?” The flyer is reductive in its oversimplification of the black mind as only caring about black issues. While it might not be racist, it is certainly racist adjacent.”

“It is also the Democratic Party,” he added, aiming at the predominately white, predominately coastal liberal elites who “ignore [black voters] completely” when they’re not facing an election.

Jones has not yet commented on the flyer. He’s currently trailing Moore by 2.8 percent according to the RCP average of polls. Alabamans vote on Tuesday.
