Flake’s Crazy Aspirations For 2020?

President Trump has effectively ran Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. out of Washington, DC. Sure the establishment still likes him, but that’s about it. There’s a reason he’s retiring from his Senate seat.

Now, the RINO poster child thinks he can take on President Trump in 2020. According to Townhall: “It’s not in my plan to run for president, but I am not ruling it out. Somebody needs to stand up for traditional Republicanism,” Flake said. “Somebody needs to raise that, for nothing else than to give people hope that that decent party will be back. We’ll get through this.”

Flake’s brand of conservatism is conserving half of whatever the Democrats want, and tinkering with big government just enough to win reelection. Don’t let his stealing lines from Barry Goldwater fool you.

“The bottom line is if I were to run a campaign that I could be proud of, and where I didn’t have to cozy up to the president and his positions or his behavior, I could not win in a Republican primary,” he said when he pulled the plug on his Senate career. With talk like that, the Trump base will make short work of a Flake candidacy.
