MAGA Trump Slashes 298 Tax Regulations

President Trump is delivering on regulatory reform. His Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin reacted to the repealed regulations by saying, “We continue our work to ensure that our tax regulatory system promotes economic growth. These 298 regulations serve no useful purpose to taxpayers and we have proposed eliminating them.”

President Trump directed Executive Order 13789 last April to the Treasury Department to “bring clarity” to the tax code and identify all tax regulations that “impose an undue financial burden on United States taxpayers,” “add undue complexity to the Federal tax laws,” or “exceed the statutory authority of the Internal Revenue Service.” This is huge, but not even the totality of what the Trump administration has done.

Last year, the White House said that “agencies issued 67 deregulatory actions while imposing only three new regulatory actions”; that’s a 22:1 ratio for the repeal of regulations, saving Americans $8.1 Billion in regulatory costs. More are planned for this year, with an estimated $9.8 Billion in savings from repealed regulations this year. In this Administration, agencies have withdrawn or delayed 1,579 planned regulatory actions. President Trump is delivering on his promise to ease the regulatory burden on Americans and make America great again.
