McConnell Skewers Detractors

Mitch McConnell takes a lot of heat from all sides. But he seems to be a savvy operator, and one who doesn’t back down easily. When asked about his critics and detractors he proved this once again.

According to Town Hall:

On Friday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was asked about constantly being targeted by protesters and hecklers of the hard Left in recent weeks. McConnell did not mince words, telling the press that he will not be “intimidated.”

“I don’t know what about my career suggests I’m influenced by intimidation,” he replied, according to WHAS11 News’ Sara Wagner. “My office walls are covered with cartoons skewering me. This is not about persuasion; this is about intimidation, and I will not be intimidated.”

The senator and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, have been on the receiving end of harassment from leftist protesters. Last month, for example, Chao pushed back against young men harassing her husband in Washington, D.C. over the longstanding crisis at the Southern border. “Why don’t you leave my husband alone!” yelled Chao in the viral exchange.

McConnell has also been heckled at two restaurants in Kentucky, again over illegal immigration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

With ramped up efforts by the anti-Trump left, it doesn’t look like this harassment will end any time soon.
