Pro-Trump Senator, Rand Paul, Returns To The Senate
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will return to Washington on Monday, according to his senior political adviser — 10 days after a sudden and bizarre assault at his Bowling Green home left him with half a dozen broken ribs and lung problems.

Adviser Doug Stafford said Paul will be back at work in the Senate on Monday, which Paul confirmed soon after on Twitter. Authorities say Paul’s next door neighbor, Rene Boucher, attacked Paul from behind at his home during the Nov. 3 altercation; Boucher has pleaded not guilty to assault.

“Kelley and I want to thank everyone once again for your thoughts and prayers for my recovery,” Paul tweeted on Monday morning, referring to his wife. “While I’m still in a good deal of pain, I will be returning to work in the Senate today, ready to fight for liberty and help move forward with tax cuts in the coming days and weeks.”

Boucher’s lawyer has maintained that the assault was over a “matter that most people would regard as trivial,” although neither the attorney, nor the senator’s aides have elaborated. Paul tweeted last week that in addition to six fractured ribs, an X-ray indicated he had a pleural effusion, which is fluid buildup around the lungs.
