This Former Rock Star General Would Be Happy To Work For Trump

Gen. David Petraeus (Ret.) says in a new interview that he would be willing to work for President Trump under a set of conditions amid speculation about the future of Trump’s secretary of State.

In an interview with Politico Magazine, Petraeus says that he has discussed with members of the Trump administration in the past about serving either as Trump’s secretary of State or national security adviser, but added “it would have to be a specific set of circumstances or be frankly, certain conditions.”

Petraeus wouldn’t specify what the conditions were, but said they were part of a conversation he had with Trump last year when Petraeus was under consideration for the top State Department job. He added he’d still be interested in serving under those conditions.

The retired general’s comments come amid months of speculation about Tillerson’s future in the administration and reports of growing tensions between Trump and his adviser. In October, NBC News reported that Tillerson had called Trump a “f-cking moron” after a meeting at the Pentagon, an incident which sparked further troubles in the pair’s relationship.
