Donald Trump Jr. has been subpoenaed by the Senate Intelligence Committee. The subpoena pertains to an inquiry involving Russia and Trump Jr.'s previous testimony before the committee.

According to CNBC:

The Senate Intelligence Committee, which is headed by a Republican, has subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, as part of an inquiry into issues involving Russia, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation.

Axios.com, which was the first to report the subpoena, said that Trump Jr.'s testimony is being sought in connection with questions about his prior testimony to Senate investigators in 2017.

Trump Jr. testified that year that "I was peripherally aware" of a potential deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

However, President Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen earlier this year told a House committee that he had met with both Donald Trump Jr. and his sister, Ivanka Trump, "approximately 10" times to brief them about that ultimately aborted effort.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is chaired by Richard Burr a Republican from North Carolina.
