Trump Compared To This Rockstar President

President Trump overcame a great deal in his first year, so much so that the New York Times acknowledged it, in their own snarky way. Hiding behind the Heritage Foundation, the Times reported that 64 percent of Heritage’s policy prescriptions were acted upon in Trump’s first year, as opposed to Reagan, who successfully implemented 49% of them.

Heritage wrote in 1981, “delayed appointments, unqualified or misqualified appointments, or the appointment of individuals who are not committed to the President’s goals and policies” had delayed or thwarted policy changes.” While President Trump has his share of the same, he has succeeded in spite of them.

To be fair, President Trump didn’t suffer a near lethal assassination attempt two months into his first year as President Reagan did. President Reagan also had a Democrat controlled house, with five more votes than Speaker Ryan currently enjoys; in the Senate, Republicans had a narrow majority, much as now.

Both Presidents enacted tax cuts in their first year, with Democrats employing class warfare attacks. Given the massive opposition President Trump has faced and the scandal-mongering from his opposition, it is nothing short of remarkable that he could implement so many reforms and deserves the grudging recognition from his enemies at the New York Times.
