In a move that even caused pushback from his former employer Fox News, former Fox News executive Bill Shine disinvited a CNN reporter from covering an event at the White House. The pulling of her invitation followed the shouting of questions by her in the Oval Office, something which goes against proper decorum.
According to The Daily Mail:
White House communications advisor Bill Shine said that a CNN reporter wasn’t banned from a press event – after he told her she couldn’t go following her persistent questioning of President Donald Trump.
…
Shine, a former Fox News executive who delivered the news to Collins from his West Wing office, denied the ban in an exchange with reporters at the White House, amid fallout that drew condemnation of the action from CNN rival Fox News, as well as from Fox anchor Brett Baier.
…
Collins got called to Shine’s new West Wing office soon after the staff announced a surprise press event in the Rose Garden, where Trump spoke about talks to avert a trade war with the European Union – without taking any questions
‘They said that the questions I asked were inappropriate for that venue. And they said I was shouting,’ Collins explained after.
This is the first major power move for Shine since beginning work for Trump as the White House Communications Director. CNN was still allowed to attend the event the reporter in question wasn’t.
