The patriarchy and the gender pay gap are two liberal myths that are thrown around even though they have been disproven time and time again. The first is this idea that a cabal of men try their best to ensure that women can never get a leg up in the world, the big problem here is that we haven’t been invited to these meetings and we’re sure you haven’t either and that’s because they don’t happen. The myth is an excuse for failure used by people who don’t try very hard in life. The second myth, the gender pay gap, is a set of statistics that reveal that women get paid less than men! How barbaric! Too bad the statistics in question do not account for career specification (heart surgeons make a lot more than pediatricians), hours worked, overtime, or leave. There is no conspiracy here, just statistically illiterate people.
