President Trump has been ordered to pay a $2 million settlement as part of a case involving the Trump foundation and allegations the money was used for personal and political purposes.

President Trump has been ordered to pay $2 million to nonprofit groups as part of a settlement in a lawsuit alleging he used the his charity’s funds for personal and political means.
The New York Supreme Court ordered Trump pay $2 million in damages as part of a settlement stemming from a June 2018 lawsuit filed by the state attorney general’s office against Trump, his three eldest children and the Trump Foundation that alleged violations of campaign finance law.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Saliann Scarpulla ruled that more than $2.8 million raised by the Trump Foundation has been used for Trump’s campaign and staff rather than the charity itself, CNBC reported. The judge ruled that Trump breached his fiduciary duty and ordered him to pay a fine of $2 million.
New York Attorney General Letitia James lauded the order on Thursday, calling it a “major victory” in the office’s efforts “to protect charitable assets and hold accountable those who would abuse charities for personal gain.”
It also is reported that the Trump Foundation has shut down and the Trump children will have to undergo training to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
