Jeffrey Epstein confidante Ghislaine Maxwell has been arrested, according to News 4 New York.
Maxwell, a British heiress who is an ex-girlfriend of Epstein was accused of being involved in Epstein’s sex crimes.
Authorities arrested her in New Hampshire and will appear in federal court today.
The daughter of media baron Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine was a one-time girlfriend of Epstein’s and was at the high-flying investor’s side for decades.
But she was also alleged to have helped Epstein groom teen girls for sex with the rich and powerful. One of those teens, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, leveled that charge against Maxwell in a 2015 defamation suit, as have a number of other women.
This is not Maxwell’s first flirtation with the legal system. In 2015, she was the defendant in a civil case in which she was accused of recruiting and grooming a minor to provide sexual services for Epstein in 1999.
Maxwell has been involved in at least 5 other civil suits since 2015.
Epstein died in early August of 2019 while in custody, of a reported suicide which raised several eyebrows.
The Maxwell indictment – where she groomed minors for Epstein – focuses on the years 1994-1997.
[I'll later thread why the years are important…]
