President Trump’s younger brother, Robert, died Saturday night at the age of 71.

Robert was hospitalized in New York City on Friday after becoming ill.

President Trump visited his brother in the hospital before his passing.

In a statement, President Trump said “[i]t is with a heavy heard I share my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight.  He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”

Robert Trump, who Trump described as “much quieter and easy going”, was a top executive in the Trump organization. In his role, he was responsible for overseeing real estate holdings.

Prior to his time with the family business, Robert worked in corporate finance on Wall Street.

Recently, Robert filed a lawsuit along with his siblings to block the publication of Mary Trump’s memoir (CNBC):

He was one of Trump’s four siblings and recently filed a lawsuit to block the publication of a book by their niece, Mary Trump. The tell-all memoir, “Too Much and Never Enough, How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” was published ahead of schedule after Robert failed to stop its release.

Robert Trump argued that Mary Trump violated a nondisclosure agreement she signed with him, Donald Trump and their sister.

After Robert’s passing, some news outlets allowed their disdain of President Trump to cloud their coverage of his brother’s death.

Senator Ted Cruz called out the Washington Post for their “sick” headline:

Rest in peace, Robert.
