Matt Mowers, a former Trump advisor, won the GOP primary for New Hampshire’s first congressional district Tuesday evening.

He defeated former New Hampshire GOP Vice Chairman and Air Force Veteran Matt Mayberry. 59.9% to 26.2% in a five-way primary battle.

Mowers served on President Trump’s 2016 campaign as the National Field Coordinator & Battleground States Director.

After Trump won the White House Mowers became a Senior White House Advisor at the State Department. While at the State Department he also served as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator where he oversaw a $6 billion global HIV program.

His work in the Trump administration earned him the endorsement of President Trump in the primary.

“Matt [Mowers] is a champion for the Great State of New Hampshire! He was a winner in my Administration and he will always put America First. Strong on our Military, Vets, Low Taxes and the Second Amendment. Matt has my Complete and Total Endorsement! We need him in Washington now,” said Trump.

Prior to joining to working with Trump, Mowers ran former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s 2016 operation in New Hampshire.

Mowers will face off in November against incumbent Congressman Chris Pappas (D) who owns one of New Hampshire’s most well-known political stops for presidential candidates, a restaurant called Puritan Backroom.
