President Trump is creating the “1776 Commission” to promote patriotism and develop a “pro-American” curriculum in U.S. education. This Commission directly combats the Liberals agenda that is attempting to re-write American history and teach children that our nation was not built on freedom, but oppression.
Republicans have been increasingly vocal in opposing the Left’s moves to teach a curriculum that emphasizes America’s early reliance on slavery and systemic racism against minorities.
The 1776 Commission is a direct dig at the New York Times “1619 project” which has the sole purpose of attempting to re-frame American history by focusing on the consequences of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans. Trump called the project “toxic propaganda” and “political-ideological poison” that is focused on destroying our country.
Trump spoke at the White House Conference on American History, hosted at the National Archives Museum according to The Daily Wire.
“Our mission is to defend the legacy of America’s founding, the virtue of America’s heroes, and the nobility of the American character,” “We must clear away the twisted web of lies in our schools and classrooms, and teach our children the magnificent truth about our country. We want our sons and daughters to know that they are the citizens of the most exceptional nation in the history of the world.”
“We are here today to declare that we will never submit to tyranny. We will reclaim our history and our country for citizens of every race, color, religion, and creed.
The radicals burning American flags want to burn down the principles enshrined in our founding documents, including the bedrock principle of equal justice under law. In order to radically transform America, they must first cause Americans to lose confidence in who we are, where we came from, and what we believe. As I said at Mount Rushmore — which they would love to rip down and it rip it down fast, and that’s never going to happen — two months ago, the left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution.
“Today, I am also pleased to announce that I will soon sign an Executive Order establishing a national commission to promote patriotic education. It will be called the ‘1776 Commission.’ It will encourage our educators to teach our children about the miracle of American history and make plans to honor the 250th anniversary of our founding. Think of that — 250 years.”
The creation of the “1776 Commission” will help re-instill pride in our nation in schools across the country and combat the Liberal’s attempt to besmirch American history. The president then announced the National Endowment for the Humanities will award a grant supporting the development of a pro-American curriculum that celebrates America’s true heritage.
