1. Advocating for leniency for terrorists

Omar came under fire from both sides of the aisle after the Congresswoman advocated for leniency and “compassion” in the sentencing of men who attempted to join ISIS. In 2016, Omar wrote a letter to the judge presiding over the case pleading for shorter sentences for the men writing, “we should refocus our efforts to inclusion and rehabilitation.” Omar wanted to spend American taxpayer money on rehabilitation for men who wanted to join a known terrorist organization, absolutely ridiculous.
