President Trump has made it official after news broke on Friday afternoon that Trump had settled on a nominee. On Saturday, during a ceremony at the White House Trump officially nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Barrett, a native of Indiana, is now officially President Trump’s nominee to replace the late-Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a liberal diety.

The nomination of Barrett, a Catholic woman, will certainly set off a contentious confirmation process with the Democrats likely coming unhinged.

Barrett is currently a judge on the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago. After graduating from Notre Dame Law School Barrett clerked for the late-Justice Antonin Scalia.

Barret then became a professor at Notre Dame before ascending to Federal Judge under President Trump. She has been considered to be on President Trump’s Supreme Court shortlist for some time and was passed for now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
