Senator claims Amy Coney Barrett won’t think for herself

Senator Richard Durbin alleged that Amy Coney Barrett would follow every decision late Justice Scalia made on Tuesday’s round of Senate hearings. The Illinois senator implied that Barrett would not think for herself while serving on the Supreme Court and instead would just mirror the prior decisions of another justice. Despite the fact that Barrett has made it clear repeatedly that she will make rulings based on the facts of the cases presented in the future and not on outside opinions or pressures. “I don’t think that anybody should assume that just because Justice Scalia decided a decision a certain way that I would too,” she said.
