Six other states have formally joined the Texas election lawsuit against battleground states Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The lawsuit is joined by 6 states led by Utah bolstering the push by Texas to fight the election results.
The lawsuit filed by Texas alleges that the battleground states used the Covid-19 pandemic to justify ignoring federal and state election laws to implement last-minute changes to the mail-in election process. These changes ultimately were to the benefit of Democrat Joe Biden. The suit seeks to invalidate the 62 electoral votes made up by the Defendant states resulting in President Trump winning a second term in the White House.
The six states that formally joined the lawsuit had all publicly stated support for the lawsuit along with 11 other states. The 17 states filed an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to hear the case.
Yesterday, Utah Attorney General Reyes joined the amicus brief before formally joining the lawsuit. In a statement from his office, AG Reyes calls the lawsuit important for all current and future U.S. elections.
