While the public only just found out that Hunter Biden is under federal investigation it appears that Attorney General William Barr knew for months. Not only did AG Barr know about the investigation into Biden’s business and financial dealing but he also participated in hiding the story from the public during the presidential election campaign.

Earlier this week, Hunter Biden released a statement that his “tax affairs” are under investigation. However, it seems this investigation into President-elect Joe Biden’s son has actually been going on for months. AG Barr claims that the investigation was kept from the public through the election so as not to interfere with the results.

Despite being pressured by Congressional Republicans for information on the investigation Justice Department guidelines advise against taking overt action during the run-up to an election.

A well-placed government source told Fox News that Hunter Biden is a subject/target of the grand jury investigation. According to the source, a “target” means that there is a “high probability that person committed a crime,” while a “subject” is someone you “don’t know for sure” has committed a crime.

The source also told Fox News that this investigation was predicated, in part, by Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) regarding suspicious foreign transactions.

Another source familiar with the investigation tells Fox News that the SARs were regarding funds from “China and other foreign nations.”

The Journal reports that federal prosecutors in Manhattan had also been looking into his dealings as part of a broader financial investigation that has been going on for at least a year — although he was never a specific target for prosecution.

The news comes after President Trump’s continued calls to AG Barr to get involved.
