Attorney Lin Wood and Steve Wynn enjoyed a years-long professional relationship until it abruptly ended last year. The two men have been united in their support for President Trump. After years of working together closely when Wynn was accused of sexual misconduct and again partnering to convince Trump to award Richard Jewell the Presidential medal of Freedom now the men only communicate through their lawyers.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

Mr. Wood has accused his former client of disparaging him to Mr. Trump and spoiling the medal for Mr. Jewell. He said he has demanded millions of dollars from Mr. Wynn for reputational damage with the president and suggested that the secret settlements he negotiated for Mr. Wynn could become public knowledge if the parties can’t come to terms.

The dispute revolves around Mr. Jewell, a client who Mr. Wood said changed the lawyer’s life. Mr. Wood has been campaigning for Mr. Jewell to receive the posthumous medal for alerting police to the bomb at the 1996 Olympics and evacuating people. Mr. Wood represented Mr. Jewell in defamation cases after the security guard was wrongly suspected of planting the bomb.

Wood’s friendship with Wynn ended on March 6 while Wood was staying at Wynn’s Palm Beach, FL home. The two were supposed to attend a dinner together at Trump’s club in nearby Mar-a-Lago.

The next day, a lawyer for Mr. Wynn told Mr. Wood he was fired and ordered him to leave Mr. Wynn’s house, Mr. Wood said. He said it was the first time a client dismissed him in 43 years practicing law.

The falling out came around the same time as some former colleagues described a change in Mr. Wood’s behavior, marked by “abusive, incoherent phone calls, voice mails, texts, and emails,” according to a lawsuit former lawyers at Mr. Wood’s firm filed in August in Fulton County, Ga., over a fee dispute.

Wood has recently risen to the front of newspapers for his continued work defending President Trump’s claims of widespread voter fraud.
