Most Americans are still trying to make sense of the events of January 6th and the reaction following them. One thing that everyone seems to agree on, though, is that the nation is more divided than ever. The natural question is whether the incoming administration is prepared to heal the division that threatens our democracy.
The answer is: absolutely not. How can an administration that is afraid of its own military possibly show the fearlessness necessary to confront the issues dividing this country? Images of National Guard soldiers stationed in Washington, DC without magazines in their rifles led to a startling revelation: the Biden Transition Team fears an assassination attempt by the very soldiers it has called to defend the Capitol against the “domestic terrorists” it is sure are lurking behind every shrub and Trump 2020 sign.
The alarm of January 6th has given way to absurdity. In Washington on January 20, there will be 25,000 troops and razor wire to protect the most popular newly-elected President in history. This is accompanied by revealed plans from Tech elites to silence millions of Americans and to reveal the identities of anyone who expressed even passing support for the protests on January 6 (even the ones that never went to Capitol Hill). There is real hatred for ordinary Americans on display from the rich and powerful of this country, all of whom are Biden-supporters. Bill Maher recently called on his audience not to hate Trump supporters. If the Left and the elites cannot move past their hatred of ordinary Americans, where does that leave ordinary Americans?
How can an administration so gripped with fear and hatred possibly govern peacefully? What is in store for our country? If the incoming administration cannot restore peace and sanity, who can?
Unfortunately, all there seem to be are questions without answers.
