The left’s obsession with Trump will continue long after his presidency has ended, that’s for sure. It’s clear that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn’t care about unifying the country, she cares about exacting her long-awaited revenge on Donald Trump. Last week the House voted to impeach Trump for a second time despite many people’s worry the process will only further divide the country and distract from Biden’s 100-day agenda. In a recent exchange on the House floor, Pelosi made it clear she doesn’t care what’s best for the country but wants retaliation.
Pelosi was asked if she had any concerns regarding moving forward with the impeachment process and the impact it will have in dividing the country and alienating Republican voters. Despite President Biden’s and many Democrat’s and Republican’s push for unity Pelosi was adamant.
Pelosi responded by blaming President Trump for the violence in the Capitol on Jan. 6th claiming that he purposefully incited an insurrection.
“No. No, I’m not worried about that. The fact is the President of the United States committed an act of incitement of insurrection I don’t think it’s very unifying to say ‘oh let’s just forget it and move on,” Pelosi responded.

Part of the reason Pelosi and other Democrats are so committed to continuing down the road to impeachment is to keep Trump from running for office again. A decision that should be made by the voters, not Congress.

Senator Lindsey Graham noted how the impeachment proceedings will only serve to alienate the 74 million Trump voters.
“Our country needs to heal,” he continued. “A second impeachment of Donald Trump after he leaves office won’t heal the country, it will further divide the country.”
Senator Rand Paul also made comments about the lasting impact of a second impeachment. The Republcian predicted that a third of Republican voters may leave the party as a direct result of a second impeachment effort.
“Look, I didn’t agree with the [Capitol] fight that happened last week, and I voted against overturning the election, but at the same time, the impeachment is a wrongheaded, partisan notion, [and] if Republicans go along with it, it’ll destroy the party,” Paul said during the interview.
“A third of the Republicans will leave the party,” Paul continued. “This isn’t about, anymore, the Electoral College, this is about the future of the party, and whether you’re going to ostracize and excommunicate President Trump from the party. Well, guess what? Millions of his fans will leave as well.”
