Senator Joe Manchin admitted that the current flood of immigrants at the border is considered a “crisis.” In comments to CNN, the Democrat admitted that Biden’s rhetoric and campaign promises played a primary role in promoting the tidal wave of immigrants that are now overwhelming border agencies.
The Hill reports:
“Whatever message was sent — it was sure interpreted the wrong way,” Manchin said during an interview with CNN this week. “It’s a crisis — oh it’s a crisis.”
Manchin did say he supported Biden’s proposed immigration reforms.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) predicted there is likely not enough support in Congress to pass Biden’s proposed immigration reforms and suggested Democrats tackle the issue using a more piecemeal approach.
“I don’t see a means for reaching that,” Durbin told CNN. “I want it. I think we are much more likely to deal with discrete elements.”
The Biden administration has tried to carefully avoid calling the situation at the border a “crisis.” However, signs from Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary have signed otherwise, Mayorkas has now asked for additional DHS volunteers as well as assistance from FEMA for the next 90-days.
