California’s Governor Gavin Newsom is facing a recall effort that has now reportedly passed 2 million signatures. The recall effort began in direct response to Newsom’s hypocritical handling of Coronavirus in the Golden State, however, during an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid the Democrats blamed the recall effort on Trump supporters, the Republican National Committee, alongside QAnon supporters and anti-vaxxers.

The RNC donated $250,000 to the recall effort in February however the RecallGavin2020 effort began last year.

Fox News reports:

“It has a lot to do with me, it has a lot to do with everybody watching. It has to do with our values as Democrats. The RNC is the second-largest donor to this effort,” he continued.

The Democrat told host Joy Reid that California was the easiest state in America to put a recall petition on the ballot. He said it only takes a quarter of the people who “just supported” former President Trump to sign the petition.

The governor and his political allies recently launched their own counter-campaign, dubbed “Stop the Republican Recall,” which has the support of Senators Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Cory Booker, D-N.J., Alex Padilla, D-Calif., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., as well as Reps. Katie Porter, D-Calif., and Ro Khanna, D-Calif.

The website alleged that the recall was powered by “a partisan, Republican coalition of national Republicans, anti-vaxxers, QAnon conspiracy theorists, anti-immigrant activists, and Trump supporters.”

The petition has reportedly passed the required 1.5 million signatures.
