WAX: Why Tulsi Gabbard is Right for an America First GOP

Gage Skidmore from Peoria, AZ, United States of America

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of TrumpTrainNews.com

The political realignment caused by President Donald Trump’s rise as the undeniable leader of the Republican Party is just beginning to be realized, and it may result in the emergence of a surprising superstar: former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii.

Gabbard first gained her following as a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders who refused to participate in a corrupt DNC process that disenfranchised the far-left presidential candidate. This made her a reviled figure among establishment Democrats, who hated her, even more, when she refused to buy into Russian xenophobia and opposed bombing campaigns in Syria. Her refreshing honesty has resulted in an unexpected cult following developing among pro-Trump conservatives.

While Gabbard’s economic policies vary considerably from the Republican orthodoxy, she brings a much-needed breath of fresh air on the issues of civil liberties and foreign wars. These are issues that appeal to young people who are often the ones thrown into the meat grinder of the war machine or are otherwise punished by the state for nonviolently enjoying their lives. Gabbard is an asset who should not be stubbornly rejected in Trump’s GOP. Making the Republican Party into a true MAGA coalition will require the building of bridges and the rejection of failed approaches tried in the past.

Gabbard is a politician that the Republican Party needs to rebuild its shattered credibility among the masses. She has built a brand as a maverick who will say what she believes is right on the issues, no matter the political consequences. Gabbard would also alienate all of the worst actors still festering within the Republican Party. The annoying free marketeers, who gave the cold shoulder to Trump for his economic nationalism, would naturally be up in arms, because of Gabbard’s lack of reverence for the sacred deity of GDP. The remnants of the neocon war party, including former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, would be the most triggered, and their anguish alone would be worth letting the Gabbardites into the fold.

Her entrance into the party would introduce some common sense into the fold. For instance, compare and contrast a Gabbard Republican to the Republicans of old. A George W. Bush Republican would support lower taxes for the wealthy, paying lip service to some scribblings made by economist Milton Friedman in the 1960s, while increasing corporate subsidies and defense spending to grease his corporate buddies. A Tulsi Gabbard Republican, theoretically, would support more taxation and social spending but would end the corporate dominance of the markets and hamstring the military-industrial complex. This makes far more sense to anyone outside of the stifling Conservative Inc. bubble.

Gabbard’s full acceptance in the MAGA coalition would force the America Last forces within the GOP to expose themselves, as her coherent articulation of a noninterventionist foreign policy would put the neocons on the defense. While the neocons can easily plant a John Bolton or an H.R. McMaster into the Trump nexus (with horrible negative consequences to his America First agenda), this could never happen with Gabbard as she is unflappable on her core issues. She is emerging as a figure not seen since former Texas Congressman Ron Paul gained a quixotic following, being able to traverse chasms and divides that others cannot. The tremendous void of courage, decency, and morality in the GOP has created the ability for unorthodox coalitions and strange new leaders. It is time to exploit these exciting circumstances to the fullest by fostering a strain of Tulsi Gabbard Republicanism.

Of course, for this to work, Gabbard needs to lean in and tailor her rhetoric to appeal to Republicans. There is already evidence that she is doing this, as evidenced by her appearances on Fox News since leaving congressional office. She appeared on the network to defend individuals who appeared at the controversial protest in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6, calling out irresponsible Democrat propaganda meant to bring the war on terror into the homeland. She has also slammed “cancel culture” for creating the type of repression pushed by groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda. Gabbard is positioning herself to lead moderates and independents turned off by the excesses of the modern Left.

Before she left Congress, Gabbard’s defiant final act put the focus on the absurd dogma of the social justice warriors. She introduced legislation that would keep biological men out of women’s sports, an issue that is radioactively unpopular with average voters. She also introduced a bill that would protect babies who survived the gruesome abortion procedure. Horror stories have emerged in recent years of babies surviving abortions and then being mangled alive for their organs to be trafficked in the medical industry. Gabbard’s awareness of these issues already beats many Republicans who only pay occasional lip service to them on the campaign trail. At the very least, it shows Gabbard has compassion that transcends the petty partisanship plaguing our civic life.

Recent news items under the Biden regime demonstrate the nature of the current political crackup and how it benefits Gabbard. Pentagon attacks on Fox News host Tucker Carlson, for having the incredulousness of suggesting that pregnant women should not be placed on the frontlines in combat zones, have been bizarre and surreal. Following that up with the National Guard mobbing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) at her own office, and we see an emerging trend of military personnel being used as cheap props to promote woke-ism for the Democrats. With no end in sight to the war on Afghanistan and the U.S. not being able to claim a decisive war victory in nearly 80 years, this is evidence that America is a non-serious country in serious decline, or perhaps free-fall collapse at this point.

With her sterling record of military service, Gabbard could gain traction as a Republican leader who will actually stand with the troops while maintaining the credibility to command their respect. While Trump certainly had the respect of the rank-and-file military, his avoidance of the Vietnam military draft and his trashing of individuals such as deceased former Sen. John McCain allowed Trump to be attacked on the issue of defense. Gabbard is unassailable in this regard, having been proven correct repeatedly despite the objections of so-called intelligence and national security experts. Gabbard has even shown the likes of Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris what a formidable foe she can be during public spats with Democrat leaders.

Republicans who pine for the great debate between capitalism and socialism, under the notion that Gen Z and millennials are just one PragerU video away from seeing the light, are effectively dooming the conservative cause despite their best efforts. The capitalism vs. socialism debate has already concluded and socialism has won, not because of ignorance or propaganda but because of the abject failure of conservatism. Republicans blew whatever credibility they may have had with young people by supporting bank bailouts, corporate subsidies, trade deals facilitating the outsourcing of jobs, forever wars, and countless other terrible policies. The youth is in turn tuning out conservatism and embracing socialism out of misguided self-interest.

Now, those of us in the Republican Party who are forward-thinking have to pick up the pieces and clean up the damage that has already been done. It is accomplished by taking the Republican Party in a populist, nationalist, America First direction. This is achieved not just by giving dedicated principled activists control over the party, permanently displacing the lobbyist-approved milquetoast class of Romney/Ryan losers, but also by forming non-traditional coalitions to build a populist Left-Right alliance that will devastate the status quo, making it wholly untenable. Gabbard could be the linchpin in creating a formidable lasting coalition if Republicans muster the courage to leave the reservation, as they did in voting for Trump as President in 2016, and manifest national greatness.

Are you a MORON? Or just clueless? Gabbard will never be welcome to the GOP by the voters. She is a Dem. This is how they infiltrate the GOP and then vote with the Dems, like Romney, Collins, Murkowski and several others. Just one more Dem with an “R” after its name! This columnist is a dummy! We need more actual Conservatives, not loser Democommies.

P W – I too was a dedicated demo reared in a totally demo family living in a total demo area of Texas. Then, I gradually became aware of what the kennedy boys & family were doing to America. LBJ opened my eyes even more. Peanut Boy was the final straw. Even then, my realization evolved to the point that I am now a TeaParty conservative who does NOT trust RINOs. Reagan famously said, “I did not leave the democratic party – the democratic party left me.” It took Trump getting totally immersed into politics to LEARN the difference in true conservatives and those who only pay lip service to conservative ideas for their own personal benefit. Heck of a BIG difference between TRUE devotion to Constitutional principles and phony lip service conversion.

By their fruits you shall know them. President Trump kept his word, his actions and his policies proved he was Pro-American and his policies benefitted American citizens, he didn’t support policiers that were against secure borders, aborted babies, raised taxes, sent jobs overseas, or gave the Chinese and Iran an advantage over the United States. You need to examine all the Socialist destructive policies that Biden and the Left have shoved on the American people.

So far, no luck with Independents like Commie Bernie Sanders or that “nitwit” from Vermont.A lot of people moving out of these Dem & Independent states because of state policy. And then a ship sent by John McCain’s Admiral Grandpa pulled up alongside the carrier that McCain almost sent to the bottom of the sea.–They took off only John McCain who was not burned or injured –none of the burned and injured pilots and Sailor–Just John and the ship took John to Hawaii for R&R.. That was a well kept secret for years. The damage he did to that ship and the crew and those planes was horrendous.. They were pushing the jets over the side of the ship to keep them from exploding and causing further damage. How McCain managed to stay in the Navy and come out as a decorated hero is beyond me.

She has differing values but she sticks to them and does not sway in the wind whenever the smell of money or corruption is in the air. We need to recognize different values and come to an agreeable and winning compromise if we are to stay in the winning lane. The Dems are getting way too far left even for many that I know that would quickly jump off the Dem’s train if they thought we in the Republican/conservative side were not so close minded! We definitely need to stay away from the Bernie Sanders socialist agenda, but believe Tulsi’s mind set is one of fairness and common sense. Donald Trump wasn’t a Republican until he ran for president, and the same with his kids, so there is hope for Tulsi to covert. One of the biggest problems for the democrats are their ignorant and stupid supporters. Ignorance can be fixed, but stupid is forever. The creeps that didn’t go to Canada stayed in America and burned the American flag. That idiot Carter who let Americans be held captive in Iran for over a year excused the little creeps. She is a Democrat! Yes she does have a common approach to many issues which to me, makes her a democrat you could work with and maybe find common ground…maybe. Problem is, she wants my guns….NEVER!!!

I’d welcome her to the party but NOT put her up for any major position unless/until she proved her bona fides.

Is she a good choice for the Republican Parties first female candidate?
Will Trump support her?
Or will he go with Don Jr. in 2028
That eldest son royal succession thing?

Keep an eye on Don Jr. He is smoother than his dad. Just as smart and
he knows what the people want. Not what the parties want to shove down our throats, that is for sure.

I, for one, have long thought Tulsi Gabbard would be a great addition to the GOP. She is honest to the point of distraction at times. Her honesty is a big plus. The Republicans need a voice of reason, common sense and honesty. There are a few well spoken Conservatives in the House and Senate. One more, to replace a RINO, would be applauded by Conservatives. As a veteran, the lady has the respect of many of her fellow vets (me for example).

Converting to Republican, I believe she would give Senator Hirono a challenge and would/should beat her in an honestly run election.

I know that many Conservatives are fed up with the lack of principles, integrity, and honesty that we are seeing in the Washington swamp. There is alot of mistrust of both Democrats and Republicans because they have totally betrayed their constituents and voted for liberal, socialist, destructive policies. Its really hard to get trust back when some of them totally let President Trump down and 75 million voters.

From her first appearance on the National stage I believed that she was in the wrong party. She is too good to be a Democrat!

I have thought this from the start of last year’s campaign. Tulsi Gabbard IS a Republican. We need her and she needs us!

Quite a far reach here. While I admire and appreciate her military service, she is far from a mainline GOP platform. I think the author needs to really do his homework. We cannot bring people in who do not comply with not just the First Amendment, but also the Second Amendment. She also advocates many socialist ideologies. The GOP cannot afford to compromise our moral positions and by soliciting her, we will be doing just that.

“but because of the abject failure of conservatism. Republicans blew whatever credibility they may have had with young people by supporting bank bailouts, corporate subsidies, trade deals facilitating the outsourcing of jobs, forever wars, and countless other terrible policies. The youth is in turn tuning out conservatism and embracing socialism out of misguided self-interest.”
Gavin WaxThis is absolute proof you are a complete nut case and have no clue what you are talking about. How could anyone be so stupid as to confuse conservatism and the actions of the Republican party of old. Don’t blame corporate subsidies and bank bailouts on conservatism. That was the old Republican party, not conservatism.

I have been listening to Gabbard since she first showed up on the political scene. Although I am a lifelong Republican and have had every task in a campaign from Scheduler to Campaign Manager (and never lost over 22years) I find her thinking to be along the lines of a strong conservative. Her values reflect the values of the Republican party. America First, Genuine Equality (not the pumped-up BLM crap, Law and Order, a Strong Military, Self Reliance, Family, etc.
I am willing to welcome her into our GOP family (and I can think of a few members she would be a good replacement for!). Tulsi Gabbord is old-school GOP and I do believe she will honestly tell you what she thinks.

There have been MANY things about Tulsi, that she stood up for against the LIBS, that I LIKED!! Many times I could not believe she was a Dem. BUT she was so, it caused me not to consider her as a good person. Strong, but misguided!! BUT MANY THOUSANDS of Dems have SWITCHED to Republican in their votes this last Election, that, I have started to believe they were just mostly MISINFORMED!!!
Trump and Reagan were also Dems before they switched. And THAT is what we need. AS MANY DEMS to switch to Republican as we can get!! Of COURSE we need to keep a CLOSE eye on them to watch HOW they vote on issues, and if we do not like their performance, VOTE THEM out or RECALL them!!
Alabama’s Senator was also a Dem before he switched to Rep. And as far as I can see he has never done MUCH FOR his Constituents!! And Shelby has voted with the LIBS MANY times, has voted with and even helped with their Agendas a few times, yet Alabamians voted him in time after time!! HE is DONE FINALLY!! He was an extreme Trump hater IMO!! Many of those swamp creatures still in there, but THANKFULLY, we are starting to WEED THEM OUT!!

  • She may be a maverick for the Dems, but she’s a RINO at best for the Republicans. Anyone that supported Bernie Sanders for President has a long way to go to fit into even the Mitch McConnell Republican Party. Her social policies are way too liberal which means throwing a bunch of money away on garbage most R’s wouldn’t even come close to considering, ie, PP and abortion. She’s not a good fit. If she were to have a “come to Jesus” reformation on social issues, then maybe. We know Dems wouldn’t give an inch of accepting someone into their party with Republican social values so we just need to apply the same standard going the other direction. In regard to your socialism and capitalism issue, I’m sorry, but Gen Z and millennials are ignorant when it comes to socialism. They think they want what they would ultimately despise when it came to implementation of socialism. They need to talk to people who have lived under its very strict regime and then discuss it with those who have more gray hair and wisdom than they do. Socialism on a piece of paper versus reality are two different animals. As the late great Yogi Berra said, “In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.”

Naysayers, demonize Ms. Gabbard all you want, however those who actually listen to her recent commentaries may detect a monolithic change of heart. The reevaluation of national values to shift them in the direction of conservatism is exactly what the movement needs.

Consider this fact that if you could get a House or Senate seat in Hawaii that would vote 60 percent with Trump is still 40 percent better than the Democrats that are there now voting 100 percent against everything all the time.
Sometime it’s better to have 60 percent of something than the 100 percent of nothing.
And I’m sure that you wonderful people would do your level best to convince he to elevate and increase what ever percent she was putting forth.
Unlike Mitt, Gabbard has shown that she has some common sense and is trainable Mitt is a lost cause and I think we can get some one better.
Gabbard could be a new foundation for the many Trump supporters under siege in the Pacific and help with suburban women. That is if we can still call them women at this point.
Listening to her speak over the years would place her in the Trump Party more than either of the establishment parties we have today.
In some ways she is like Trump, she will listen to what you have to say, and she will be open to your position, but you will have to convince her with facts not bullshit.
