Before going on to become Biden’s choice for Vice President, in 2017 Senator Harris signed a letter to keep the filibuster. Harris joined 60 other senators in the letter to Senate Leaders Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer. “We are writing to urge you to support our efforts to preserve existing rules, practices, and traditions as they pertain to the right of Members to engage in extended debate on legislation before the United States Senate” the letter states.
