UPDATE: Many have asked about Dan Bongino, who had been announced as a possible replacement. It appears he is still in the running and that Kirk will only fill an hour of the slot left from Rush’s death.

KLTV Reported:

Cumulus Media’s Westwood One said Bongino will begin a new three-hour radio program from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern, the same time slot Limbaugh occupied before his death due to lung cancer in February. Bongino’s news and opinion show will launch May 24 in markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.

Salem Radio’s Charlie Kirk is set to fill the timeslot left by the late Rush Limbaugh. Kirk’s new time, of 12-1 pm will begin right away on April 12. Viewers can listen in on Salem Radio Network’s 77WABC and 107.1 FM WLIR. In the announcement, Kirk praised Limbaugh and his legacy calling him a “friend and American hero.”

Townhall reports:

A statement from Kirk is included who shared “I am thrilled and honored to take the same time and station where my friend and American hero Rush Limbaugh launched his national radio show in 1988.” He also noted “I am so impressed with what John Catsimatidis has done since he bought this great station, and will commit to doing my part to keep this as one of the top talk stations in America.”

As well as from Salem Vice President of Spoken Word Phil Boyce, who said “I was fortunate to be the PD at WABC for 14 years. I am thrilled to see WABC once again affirm its status as one of the truly iconic talk stations in the nation, and so blessed to be able to add our newest star Charlie Kirk to their all-star lineup.”

The announcement also mentions that “Kirk first joined the Salem Radio Network in the noon to 3 p.m. EDT time slot in October 2020 and has continued to grow his audience on stations across the country.” His Salem Radio page lists his other accolades, among them that Kirk “also airs a daily podcast of the same name, that has become one of the top 10 news shows on Apple New Podcast rankings.”

Kirk has made waves in the Republican Party after founding Turning Point USA.

    1. Agreed. Too Young and Not a Big Enough Resume. Todd Hermann or Jason Lewis would have been a better selection.

      1. Rush Limbaugh became a national radio figure at the age of 38. Many of the Founding Fathers were in their late 20s, early 30s. Wisdom and age are often mutually exclusive!

    1. Ok, I don’t think this young man is a RINO?
Every time I’ve heard him speak I was very impressed.

        1. I like governor Huckabee. For some reason I thought he already had a radio show? I hope his daughter gets elected the next governor of Arkansas. Take out that horrible RINO.

    2. You are either trying to be an incendiary buffoon, or you have no idea who Charlie Kirk is.
I vote for both when it concerns your comment.

    3. You need to do a little more research, G BAR RED! Charlie Kirk is an amazingly strong voice for true conservatism. Check out his book “The MAGA Doctrine.”

  1. Charlie, I’m so proud of you! You will do a good job in your new venture. And I think it’s real good to have a young person in that position and you are so good with young people. Will look forward to hearing you that way. May the Lord bless you and give you much wisdom, and give you favor with your audience.

  2. Charlie, congratulations and nothing but best wishes. You’re extremely smart and so well informed. Hope you can reach our young people.
    Go go get m!

  3. Guess my immediate thought is that I have some very mixed emotions about Charlie Kirk, but what happened to the “slam dunk” with Dan Bongino?

  4. Congratulations to Charlie Kirk. Of course no one can ever fill Rush’s shoes so just develop your own style.

As for Dan Bongino, I thought that he was going to fill this time slot. Maybe I was confused. I really like Dan Bongino and would have been happy if it had been him to fill the Limbaugh time slot. I don’t know what happened? Maybe this will all come out now that the decision has been made. But if Charlie Kirk is the pick then I will get behind him and support him as much as possible. What I do know is that the puke liberals need to be constantly pushed back on.

  5. I find the announcements of Dan Bongino (whom I admire and listen to on a daily basis) and Charlie Kirk’s filling Rush’s Time Slot. I am listening to the Rush Limbaugh Show now, and they have a guide host (today is Jason Lewis) into which they intersperse clips of Rush. It’s almost like having Rush back. The show keeps announcing that it will continue in this vein for a long time to come. So, what does that mean for Salem and Westwood One’s shows? I am concerned Rush’s media empire is being broken up.

  6. I admire Dan Bongino, but I am thrilled to hear about Charlie. I have long thought he is one of the very best young spokesmen for conservatism along with Candace Owens. They are brilliant and give me some degree of hope for the future of our country (I am a “senior citizen” and worry about my kids and grandkids future).

  7. Charlie Kirk is the best! He is exactly who we Conservatives need to spread the truth about the true Republican Party (RINOs DO NOT COUNT) and recruit the next generation of Conservatives. I saw him in person at one of his events and he is exactly the right person to carry our message and fight the RINOs and dims. The generation can relate to him and he does an excellent job on our radical left universities telling the student the truth, maybe the first time they have ever heard in on their university campus. Go Charlie!

  8. For some reason I thought that the next person to fill Rush’s spot would be on all the channels?
So are they filling in different spots with different hosts? I’m still listening to Rush with various fill ins. If someone knows, I would like to know.
    Thank you

  9. Charlie Kirk is a fine choice and much worth a listen. Dan, Huckabee would also be fine. But I will sorely miss Rush’s replacement host Mark Steyn with his dry, incisive British humor and historical perspective.

  10. We were wondering who would be our host. We surely need someone who addresses all the issues that are burdening hard working Americans and their futures. Give it a go Charlie. Dan Bongino and Mark Stein are good hosts too, as well as Mike Huckabee, the host needs to keep it interesting, with honest Conservative views, and to the right perspective on the issues, and with humor at times.
