Defund the Police
A major factor that hurt Democrats during the 2020 election cycle was the Defund the Police movement. The radical push to villainize police officers in the wake of George Floyd protests spread like wildfire throughout the country and voters did not like it. While most Americans said they support police officers and feel safer with their presence more liberal politicians like the Squad loudly advocated to abolish police across the country. The move ultimately ended up hurting Democrats in multiple elections and allowed Republicans to flip the district.
