Michael Avenatti has been convicted of extorting Nike and now faces up to 8 years in prison.

According to Fox News:

Federal prosecutors are seeking an eight-year prison sentence for disgraced attorney Michael Avenatti in his attempted extortion case, and that’s not even close to the end of the legal troubles for the former media darling.

The spectacular downfall of Avenatti from possible Democratic presidential candidate – CNN’s Brian Stelter memorably told Avenatti he took him seriously as a White House contender because of his cable news presence – to convicted felon is yet another in a series of stinging media embarrassments in recent years.

Avenatti was convicted last year of trying to extort up to $25 million from Nike by threatening to go public with corruption allegations at the athletic apparel company and cause billions of dollars in valuation losses.

“The defendant, a prominent attorney and media personality with a large public following, betrayed his client and sought to enrich himself by weaponizing his public profile in an attempt to extort a publicly-traded company out of tens of millions of dollars. This was an egregious abuse of trust, and it warrants real and serious punishment,” prosecutors wrote in their court filing, according to the Associated Press.

Avenatti will also face trial for charges related to him defrauding his clients out of millions of dollars. This practice will also take him to trial next year on allegations he defrauded Stormy Daniels out of more than $300,000.

  1. Him or Biden. Like having a choice between the frying pan and the fire. It’s enough to make one miss Ted Kennedy.

      1. True but Biden is coming after all Trump supporters. It’s the next step to stymie everything but what they want in socialism

  2. Happy to see Avenatti get his comeuppance at last! Although I admit I have no problem with his attempted extortion of Stormy Daniels, given her attempts to “extort” and ruin President Trump! She and Avenatti are obviously birds of a feather and deserve each other. But this guy is just a sleazy weasel, and that has been obvious from the first time he stepped in front of a camera in his arrogant way, thinking he was smart enough to do anything he wanted and get away with it. 🙁

    1. In the words of Tucker Carlson……”Michael Avenatti is a creepy porn lawyer!” AND, I would add, he will never receive punishment befitting his crimes and sins!

      1. That’s for sure, maxibaby — the insidious liberals rarely pay appropriate consequences for all the harmful, illegal stuff they do! But their day’s coming in the end, and they likely won’t like the hot temperature of that dark place!!!

  3. Only 8 years?
the common man goes to jail for a lot longer time for far lesser crime
hope the inside will pick him over well

  4. Of ALL the people the lib media has given time and credence to, Avenatti has to be the most obvious loser. The very first time I saw him in front of cameras and heard him speak I laughed. It’s just incredulous that anyone with any work brain cells at all would give him the time of day.

  5. Wonder what CNN is going to do about this? They literally gave him worship for defaming Trump. Evil is as evil does and Avenatti got his just dues. Even Stormy Daniels hates him because he cheated her out of her money too. She deserved that also.

  6. Democrats don’t like the exposure of their corruption and President Trump unmasked all their ugliness and pay to play schemes

  7. what about the other 35 charges against Avenatti? when will he be sentenced for the charges of failure to pay taxes, fraud, perjury, embezzlement? you and I both know if we did any of those we would have been locked up already….

  8. Hmm, 8 years for the previous dimocrap presidential front runner. Now if Beijing Briben can just join him.
