Moderate Democrat Joe Manchin has reportedly worked out a deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to gain his support for Democrat’s partisan election bill, the For The People Act. Manchin who previously said he would oppose the partisan push to federalize elections has reportedly been swayed and will now vote yes after striking a deal with the top Senate Democrat.
The Hill reports:
“We worked it out,” Schumer told reporters.
In exchange for voting “yes” on Tuesday, Schumer said if Democrats are able to advance to floor debate on the bill, something they won’t be able to do because of across-the-board Republican opposition, he will give Manchin a vote on his proposal as an amendment.
“Over the past month, I have worked to eliminate the far reaching provisions of S.1, the For the People Act – which I do not support. I’ve found common ground with my Democratic colleagues on a new version of the bill that ensures our elections are fair, accessible and secure,” Manchin said in a statement.
“Today I will vote ‘YES’ to move to debate this updated voting legislation as a substitute amendment to ensure every eligible voter is able to cast their ballot and participate in our great democracy,” he added.
Though Machin has changed his mind and plans to vote to move the bill forward it will still fall short of the required 60 votes due to opposition from all Republican senators.

Nobody who is eligible to vote has any problem voting, for the candidate of their choice. The bill is sold as needed because all the reasons are lies. The Democrat Party wants to have federal laws so they can mandate as many of the procedures that resulted in election fraud in 2020 as possible. As you have pointed out, there is no need for more lax rules, including NO VOTER I.D., which goes against public opinion on 70%.

Now how fortunate for you, since it is a proven fact from every investigation done by any investigation, that in most Southern states, the places where blacks normally vote has about 75% of the voting places or systems of places which normally vote Republican, and if you care to believe it or not , it actually makes it harder for minorities to vote, through lines that are some times as much as 8 hours long, yet in places which normally vote Republican ther are no lines, or if there are lines it is less than 1 hour long. I have seen it first hand in my state.
We need a National standard so everyone has the same exact access and the same access is available to everyone.

I wish I could say I’m surprised, but I’m not. Joe Manchin has done this to us too many times before. He “stands strong” until they either persuade him or threaten him, whichever works, and then he bows to their demands. He has done this too many times for me to have any faith in what he says he will do. I have a hard time, though, believing that the bill will pass the Supreme Court, though they too cannot be fully trusted to do the right thing. However, this bill calls for the federal government to oversee the nation’s voting. This is totally unconstitutional and should not ever, ever, ever be affirmed by the Supreme Court. It would be a complete violation of states’ rights and of our right to be confident that our vote is counted correctly. I am appalled at Joe Manchin’s lack of integrity and at the Supremes being political instead of honest.

As it is now we have about 50 different voting processes across this USA, and many which are written in such a way as to make it harder for certain groups to actually vote, like less voting machines or places per capita than in preferred districts, making shorter voting times knowing some can not or will not be allowed to leave work to vote, along with amny other restrictions.
