Washington Post journalist Hannah Dreier was blasted for falsely claiming that Governor DeSantis waited a full day before giving FEMA permission to deploy to the area. Dreier tweeted, “There’s a saying in emergency management: The first 24 hours are the only 24 hours.”
It wasn’t long before people on both sides of the aisle pointed out that the governor does not have the authority to call FEMA and the request must first be made by Miami-Dade County Mayor Danielle Levine Cava.
