Philip Kennicott

Philip Kennicott, an art critic for the Washington Post, attacked the Statue of Liberty.

Kennicott went after the Statue of Liberty and the author of the poem that sits at its base, Emma Lazarus. Kennicott insists that America has failed to live up to the words in the poem.

Towards the end of Kennicott’s piece he writes “I went to see the original statue last month. I didn’t go to the site itself – that’s for tourists – but I went to a pier on the west side of Manhattan and looked across the water to Liberty Island. The statue had never seemed so small.”
