GOP Rep. Who Voted to Impeach Trump Will Not Seek Re-Election

One of the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Trump says he will not be seeking re-election. Ohio Rep. Anthony Gonzalez announced on Thursday that he will not be seeking another term in Congress. In his statement, Rep. Gonzalez said he is leaving politics to focus on fuller family life and also noted toxic dynamics within the GOP as reasons for his departure.

The Hill reports:

“As Elizabeth and I consider the realities of continuing in public service while juggling the increasing responsibilities of being parents to our two beautiful children, it is clear that the best path for our family is to not seek re-election this fall,” Gonzalez said.

The Ohio Republican Party’s central committee voted to censure Gonzalez and called for his resignation in May.

Gonzalez responded that he thought “continuing to perpetuate falsehoods, especially ones that are dangerous that led to the violence on Jan. 6, is a recipe for disaster for the party, but it’s also horribly irresponsible.”

Gonzalez’s decision comes as Trump continues his effort to unseat lawmakers who voted to impeach him. Gonzalez is the only one of those 10 who have thus far announced an intention to retire.

Trump has already endorsed former White House Aide Max Miller in the race for Ohio’s 16th Congressional district.

Thursday morning, former President Trump responded to new Gonzalez won’t be seeking re-election and said it’s “no loss for Ohio.”

“RINO Congressman Anthony Gonzalez, who has poorly represented his district in the Great State of Ohio, has decided to quit after enduring a tremendous loss of popularity, of which he had little, since his ill-informed and otherwise very stupid impeachment vote against the sitting President of the United States, me,” Trump writes. “This is no loss for Ohio or our Country and, most importantly, we have a great candidate who was substantially leading Gonzalez in the polls, Max Miller, who I have given my Complete and Total Endorsement. Max is a tremendous person who will represent Ohio well. Good riddance to Anthony, he can now get himself a job at ratings-dead CNN or MSDNC!”

Trump is not one to sit on his haunches and let this good news escape him. He stays in the fight until the end and always comes out punching. Next – Cheney!

One of the many reasons I voted for him! He says what he means, and means what he says. And he does NOT speak out of both sides of his mouth to pander for votes!! He is “every man” so to speak. And I WANT HIM BACK!!

And the list goes on–Cheney, Romney, Sass, and Kinzinger. Open the doors and bring in some fresh air and fresh ideas.

Romney is at the top of my list of those I hope will go away! When I was in Utah in October, for a nephew’s wedding and to visit family and friends there, someone had put up a huge billboard on one of the highways that says: “Hey, Mitt — Just Quit!” I love it! 🙂

Responsible Ohio citizens are breathing a big sigh of relief. He probably doesn’t know it but he’s a hard core communist. He seems to have no inkling that individual freedom from government control is the fuel that drives free enterprise. And it’s free enterprise that has created the greatest nation on the planet.

Anybody that is in for the fix with the globalists and doesn’t put America and the American people first should get out. The globalists love your allegiance to their Big Bureaucratic government without being held accountable for any wrongdoing.

Really – would you stand behind people that voted to impeach you? Just because Trump has other candidates he likes better is simply life in politics which has become a shit show on both sides of the isle. Where are the videos from the capitol police that you keep fighting to keep hidden by filing one order after another – Pelosi, Hillary? Voting machine forensic evidence? What is the left hiding? This is public information – why are the American people not demanding it? Few candidates run on detailed positive things THEY can bring to the American people they supposedly represent – thus nothing gets changed that is good for the citizens of the US that are supposed to be in charge of them. Time to impeach the whole B, H and P regime and their cabinet members for lies and treason instead of arguing who Trump supports.

Ohio republicans need to be cautious who they nominate for replacing Anthony it’s almost a given that the dems haven’t got a quality rep so they may be grooming another RINO.

Now if we can just get rid of Romney, Sass and Kinzinger that would be progress. We have to fire them, they won’t quit, the Democrats might take them in for a while to show them off as victories but that won’t last long. Loyalty is a virtue non of them posses. We need more feisty Republicans like Marjorie Tayler Greene, and Lauren Boebart.
