The House of Representatives passed a $1 trillion infrastructure bill on Friday night. The passage comes after multiple delays.

The bill was negotiated and approved by a group of bipartisan senators over the summer. Despite being passed by the senate, infighting amongst House Democrats caused delays.

The bill which reauthorizes federal infrastructure programs for 5 years invests in roads, bridges, and rail. Along with the reauthorization, the bill will also pour another $550 billion into infrastructure. Now, the bill will now travel to President Biden’s desk for his signature.

Infrastructure was a key piece of the Biden agenda. Despite opposition from House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy, the bill passed 228-206 with the support of 13 republicans.

The 13 republicans that broke ranks and voter for the measure are:

  • Brian Fitzpatrick – Pennsylvania
  • Don Bacon – Nebraska
  • Andrew Garbarino – New York
  • Adam Kinzinger – Illinois
  • Nicole Malliotakis – New York
  • Anthony Gonzalez – Ohio
  • David McKinley – West Virginia
  • Tom Reed – New York
  • Chris Smith – New Jersey
  • Don Young – Alaska
  • Fred Upton – Michigan
  • John Katko – New York
  • Jeff van Drew – New Jersey

6 Democrats votes in opposition

  • Ilhan Omar – Minnesota
  • Cori Bush – Missouri
  • Rashida Tlaib – Michigan
  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – New York
  • Jamaal Bowman – New York
  • Ayanna Pressley – Massachusetts

The bill passed the Senate in August 69-30. The major hangup was House progressives holding the bill hostage in order to get items on their wish list.

However, progressives caved in exchange for House moderates agreeing to vote on Biden’s $1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act without changes by November 15th.

  3. I believe 13 Gopers just signed their early retirement plans. The GOP had a good bill as an alternative that would have done more for roads and bridges, even though the Dems have blocked infrastructure for five years to make sure Trump did not get a win, but these 13 morons will need to understand the consequences. The GOP finally had Pelosi trapped for a major loss, along with Coward in Chief, and they blew it. McCarthy should never become speaker as he is not a good leader obviously.

  4. We really don’t have to worry about China, Russia, or for that madder any other country destroying our nation as we have our own members of congress doing a pretty darn good job of doing it themselves. It’s mainly the Democrats in congress, with a few in name only Republicans that are more concerned with nothing more than self and I say that are nothing more than a bunch of Un-American you know what’s.

    1. If they do much more damage to our country Cuba will march in and take us over. It doesn’t make any difference how powerful our military is if it is controlled by total incompetents.

  5. These 13 traitors need to be permanently removed from ever serving in the government again – oh wait, Adam Kissmyassinger has already announced he is retiring. Hey Adam, quit now so we don’t have to experience any more traitorous actions.
