Former President Trump is finally giving his supporters a timeline as to when he may announce his next political campaign. During an interview with Fox News, the former president said Americans will likely have to wait until after next year’s midterm elections before he makes any official announcement about running for president in 2024.
Fox News reports:
“I am certainly thinking about it and we’ll see,” Trump said. “I think a lot of people will be very happy, frankly, with the decision, and probably will announce that after the midterms.”
“It doesn’t mean I will,” Trump said of whether he will stick to that timeline. “It’s probably appropriate, but a lot of people are waiting for that decision to be made.”
Trump noted that there are a number of Republican contenders waiting for Trump to make a final decision on his campaign before making any announcements.
“We have a lot, they’re all very well named,” he said of the GOP White House hopefuls. “But almost all of them said if I run, they’ll never run.”
He added: “And that’s nice, primarily because it shows a great degree of loyalty and respect.”
Trump, while giving a special nod to some potential running mates, was careful to note that there were a number of good candidates to consider. He noted the good work Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has done and also praised former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.
