Mainstream Media Attempts to Undermine Trump and Mark Meadows Relationship with New ‘Fake News’ Angle

The mainstream media has no shame. In the latest attempt to paint Donald Trump as a villain, the media has taken a short excerpt from former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’s new book to falsely claim Trump had covid during the first presidential debate against Joe Biden.

Trump quickly dismissed the claim as fake news in a short statement through his Save America PAC.

“The story of me having COVID prior to, or during, the first debate is Fake News. In fact, a test revealed that I did not have COVID prior to the debate,” Trump said on Wednesday.

The Guardian claimed:

Mark Meadows also writes that though he knew each candidate was required “to test negative for the virus within seventy two hours of the start time … Nothing was going to stop [Trump] from going out there.”

Trump, Meadows says in the book, returned a negative result from a different test shortly after the positive.

Nonetheless, the stunning revelation of an unreported positive test follows a year of speculation about whether Trump, then 74 years old, had the potentially deadly virus when he faced Biden, 77, in Cleveland on 29 September – and what danger that might have presented.

Trump announced he had Covid on 2 October. The White House said he announced that result within an hour of receiving it. He went to hospital later that day.

However, Meadows also quickly refuted claims that Trump had Covid-19 during the debate noting that the positive test results Trump received were due to a false positive and was repeatedly re-tested to ensure he did not have the virus.

The Hill reports:

In an interview on Newsmax, anchor Rob Schmitt referred to a brief statement the former president on Wednesday calling the positive test “fake news.”

“What is the story?” Schmitt asked Meadows.

“Well, the president’s right, it’s fake news. If you actually read the book — the context of it — that story outlined a false positive,” the former chief of staff said on Newsmax.

“Literally had a test, had two other tests after that that showed that he didn’t have Covid during the debate, and yet the way that the media wants to spin it is certainly to be as negative about Donald Trump as they possibly can while giving Joe Biden a pass,” he added.

Just goes to show that the media hasn’t given up on its relentless witch hunt against Donald Trump.
