Ilhan Omar is another potential contender for Pelosi’s position if she were to step down. Ilhan Omar has a lot going for her as a Democrat member of Congress, she is extremely popular in her district so she can afford to take risks she otherwise would not be able to take and this gives her a distinct advantage. While the fact that Ilhan Omar is an Islamic woman may seem meaningless to many on the right, identity politics is extremely popular on the left and that could really help her campaign out.
