Mail-in voting has been a standard practice for several years but it became a topic of heated debate in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, and for good reason.

Mail-in voting was different in every area of the country and many areas rarely saw the practice used and in those areas where the practice was common it was generally reserved for those that could not make it to the polls on election day. In 2020 there was a massive influx of those who wanted to vote in the election via mail and many feared that the post office, which is notorious for being slow, would be overwhelmed.
