Google Violates Wireless Speaker Patent

A company called Sonos recently beat Google in court over the violation of a patent they held on wireless speaker technology. The theft of intellectual property is a real crime but one that is often only punished by fines and monetary penalties, like in this case with Google. While this one small case may seem like nothing in the grand scheme of things, this case signals that Big Tech does not care about the law or intellectual property(unless it is their Intellectual property of course.)

Tech Giants like Google can steal a smaller company’s product, release it under new branding, pay a small fine, and laugh all the way to the bank. Courts work slowly and restitution can never happen in a reasonable amount of time, many of these smaller companies go bankrupt before they can even get a penny of what is rightfully theirs.
