The U.S. believes that Russia may be planning to create pretext to invade Ukraine by producing propaganda videos showing aggression toward Russians.
Background: On Wednesday, the Pentagon announced it was sending 3,000 to bolster Eastern European allies.
Russia has amassed nearly 100,00 troops along Ukraine’s border in recent weeks.
What Happened: Pentagon press secretary John Kirby told reports that U.S. intelligence learned of Moscow’s plans to stage and film a fabricated attack by the Ukrainian military either on Russian territory or against Russian-speaking people in eastern Ukraine.
“We do have information that the Russians are likely to want to fabricate a pretext for an invasion,” Kirby said. “One option is the Russian government, we think, is planning to stage a fake attack by Ukrainian military or intelligence forces against Russian sovereign territory, or against Russian speaking people, to therefore justify their action.”
“We believe that Russia would produce a very graphic propaganda video, which would include corpses and actors that would be depicting mourners and images of destroyed locations, as well as military equipment at the hands of Ukraine or the West, even to the point where some of this equipment would be made to look like it was Western supplied to Ukraine equipment,” Kirby said. Details: Kirby was also asked if U.S. officials believe that the Kremlin previously approved the fake attack.
“Our experience is that very little of this nature is not approved at the highest levels of the Russian government,” Kirby said.

What business is it of Bidens whether Russia invades Ukraine or not . I get the feeling that the USA and their little pals in the Uk are obsessed with Russia this last few years. What exactly has Russia done that produces the venomous tirade of criticism. We’re they a bit naughty for taking back Crimea which was part of Russia for hundreds of years. And not a single death , As a citizen’ of the Uk I am sick of lies about other countries , particularly Russia and China . The Chinese never did anything to me and the same can be said about Russia. It might be worth remembering that Russia lost about 20 million people in WW2 and only for them we might be speaking German.. Ukraine is not worth losing a single US life over. And what annoys me the most is the obvious pressure that the US put on Germany to obstruct the commissioning of Nord-stream 2 which has driven the price of gas through the roof and is causing the poorest people in the Uk to decide whether to eat or heat.
