A Virginia district attorney endorsed by liberal billionaire George Soros hired a registered sex offender to work as an office paralegal. Loudoun County commonwealth’s attorney Buta Biberaj has also been accused of not doing enough for victims of domestic violence.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

“I was kind of surprised how quickly the process went,” the unidentified offender said in an interview with Fox 5, which first reported the story. “And I was expecting there to be the background check, of course. I mean, everybody does a background check these days.”

Federal authorities raided the sex offender’s home in late 2013 and found over 600 images of child pornography. The materials show children engaged in sexually explicit behavior and in some cases “depicted children involved in sadistic conduct,” according to court filings. Some of the children featured in the materials are kidnapping and trafficking victims, according to the filings.

The offender, who briefly had access to a wide range of case files during his tenure with Biberaj, pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography, which carries a five-year mandatory minimum sentence. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release.

Biberaj is already facing heat from fellow Democrats for her handling of domestic abuse cases. The Washington Free Beacon reported on Feb. 2 that a former career prosecutor alerted local leaders to Biberaj’s progressive prosecutorial practices and warned that she is a threat to public safety. The prosecutor, Jason Faw, highlighted lenient sentences Biberaj’s staff helped arrange in three child endangerment and domestic abuse cases during those consultations.

According to reports, Soros’s Justice and Public Safety PAC donated $659,000 to Biberaj’s 2019 campaign for the commonwealth’s attorney.
