CNN Streaming Service Releases to Dismal Ratings

Can CNN rebound from its trend of dismal ratings? That remains to be seen but things are not off to a promising start. This week CNN unveiled its new streaming platform and things are already off to a bad start.

A longtime media industry executive who previously worked as a producer for CNN told Fox News Digital that former President Jeff Zucker’s damage to the network will undoubtedly reverberate for years to come.

Fox News reports:

“It’s a sorry state of affairs that when CNN should be shining for its Ukraine coverage, it instead is mired in the embarrassing launch of a suboptimal product like CNN+. Ratings are terrible despite the once-in-a-decade war news that CNN is supposedly made for. We’re now seeing the deep and permanent damage Jeff Zucker did to the once storied CNN brand when he pulled it far left and made it about himself vs Trump,” the media insider said. “Viewers don’t turn to CNN for serious news anymore.”

CNN’s highest-rated show, “AC 360,” finished behind 15 Fox News and six MSNBC offerings despite much of the final month of the quarter occurring as the network received a significant boost as Cooper reported from Ukraine.

In addition, CNN+ launched this week with little fanfare and is already being nitpicked for relying on paid subscribers when the basic cable version of CNN has a hard time attracting an audience.

“CNN+ is currently set up to fail with a subscription-only revenue model,” Progress Ventures founder Nick MacShane wrote in Adweek. “Licht should shift CNN+ to an ad-supported revenue model and build upon CNN’s strengths through strong relationships with top advertisers.”

Will incoming CNN president Chris Licht manage to resuscitate this dying network or has the damage already been done? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

CNN should just close their doors. No one trust them as a news organization.

Hopefully, CNN will disappear as it should. It has been nothing more than a propaganda machine based on zucker’s personal hatred of Donald Trump which has cost our nation substantial damage. Their attacks on the former president gave us the destructive administration that America is suffering with today

I would consider watching CNN if the network made a concerted effort to report the local and international news without a bias. America needs a strong middle-of-the-road news service which remains free from obvious political bias. CNN suffered because of its outspoken hatred for Trump and it became very personal. The news that is reported has a tremendous influence on the direction in which society will go. People need honest and in-depth news and that is almost non- existent the industry, because it has been kidnapped by financially and politically powerful people. Since it is overwhelmingly expensive to finance a news network, corruption appears to have won out for the sake of finances, resulting in highly biased reporting to satisfy sponsor’s personal political agendas. An example is that OAN is being dropped from DirectTV, because some of the financially powerful Leftist sponsors have strongly influenced the powers that be to do so, or else. Unbiased news reporting did exist during the very early years of TV broadcasting so it is possible, but the money talks the talk and walks the walk and as long as that remains the sole motivation, honest and unbiased reporting may just be a pipe dream. In the end, the ratings rule and that is controlled by the viewers. Going after a political bias is financially dangerous, because the audience is too fluid and their biases change from day to day. It probably wouldn’t hurt to lose some of the present “news services” to make honest reporting more financially appealing.

I fear that you are correct in your assumption, but the broadcast industry may one day decide to develop a code of ethics, the likes of which existed during the 1950s, in order to bring some credibility back to the industry, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

CNN could come back if they totally eliminated their “hate Trump” attitude, got rid of ALL liberals, and reported ONLY true, honest, factual information. No opinions – just FACTS. It would take them most of a generation to regain an audience, but if they held to those rules it could happen. But I really don’t think that is going to happen – everyone went over to FOX and Newsmax where we have been getting true and honest information for a very long time.

Not only should they be shutdown forever, but most of the talking heads should be put in prison for lying to the American public for years causing incredible damage to the overall relationships of the American people.

Looks like Chris Wallace being with CNN won’t help, nothing will. CNN has a scar on it’s brand that can never be removed.
