Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is preparing to take a step into national politics by launching a pair of new political groups.

According to The Daily Caller:

The move will allow the recently elected governor to have a larger role in the upcoming midterm elections, Politico reported. Youngkin, who is limited to one term as governor, has not expressed any interest in a 2024 presidential run, but has not ruled out the possibility.

The first group is a political action committee called Spirit of Virginia, while the second is a nonprofit group called America’s Spirit, Politico reported.

Spirit of Virginia is already running television ads pushing Youngkin’s agenda in order to get the state legislature, which has a Democrat-controlled Senate, to approve his proposed budget, Politico reported. Youngkin also anticipates contributing to the election cycle through donations and hosting campaign events, people familiar with the matter told the outlet.

“Looking to 2022, Gov. Youngkin will continue to grow that movement and help other candidates win, especially those that will turn blue states red, just as he did in Virginia last year,” Youngkin senior advisor Kristin Davison told Politico.

The two groups could also aid Republican attempts to secure a majority in the state Senate for Youngkin’s last two years in office.

Youngkin is still seen as a newcomer to conservative politics despite being the first Republican to be elected to win statewide in over a decade, however, these new groups are likely to considerably raise his national profile.

  1. Elevate national profile, but not for 2024 race for POTUS. For prominence in the GOP and a future beyond that.

  2. Nice to see such an ambitious newcomer willing to help others and hopefully they will be true patriots, not Rinos. I don’t believe he would pose any threat to Trump, but I love his use of the media and I hope he will encourage other patriots to use it successfully. We need a lot of good help with media use.

    1. I don’t think it’s his intention to run for President, but just to speak up for other Republican candidates, and help move them forward for the upcoming 2022 elections for now. Trump has my vote, too, and always will! I told my son last night I would love to see him run with Tulsi Gabbard as VP — she would need to move to the R party, of course, but I really like what I see and hear from her!

  3. That is a twenty twenty four problem. Today is Elon Musk makes Twitter go into panic attack and possibly nuclear war is on the horizon if we are not careful. Priorities.

  4. I DON’T THINK THERE’S ANYBODY OUT THERE, THAT I CAN SEE, WHO WOULD CHALLENGE PRESIDENT TRUMP IN 2024. IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME ANYWAY, IF / WHEN HE RUNS, HE WILL WIN.

  5. I think it’s great, Governor Youngkin, that you are going to help Republicans move forward, and no doubt there’s a lot you can do for them. But please don’t lose focus of the important things we need you to continue doing for Virginia. A lot of which is undoing the damage done by the dictator Northam!! So far, so good — just keep up the good work!

  6. “Youngkin, who is limited to one term as governor.” a misleading statement. f my research is correct the VA Governor can serve more than one term but cannot serve “CONSECUTIVE” terms.

  7. If Trump runs, he will just be another also ran that quickly falls by the wayside. He is just going to waste a lot of money on a campaign that will go no where.
