While most of the country is speculating whether Trump will tap Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to be his running mate in 2024 sources say that Trump is considering someone else altogether. The former president has dropped numerous hints he plans to run for president in the next election but now sources say he’s considering asking House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik to join him on the ticket.
Mediaite reports:
Conversations about adding Stefanik to a future Trump ticket have gained steam in recent weeks at Mar-a-Lago and in other Republican circles, sources said. Current and former advisers and others in Trump’s orbit have privately argued that the New York Republican, who replaced Rep. Liz Cheney as the no. 3 House Republican last year, is a fierce and loyal attack dog, and Trump would benefit from tapping a woman for vice president should he run again.
Two people familiar with the matter said Trump has been surveying close friends and allies on what they think of Stefanik, one of several Republican women he is possibly eyeing for the potential VP slot, though he has not ruled out a few male contenders, too.
One source told CNN Trump believes Stefanik has pivoted from moderate to “America First” conservative. Another source said Trump finds the idea of adding a female to a potential ticket attractive to his potential re-election prospects.
“There is a part of Trump who thinks he needs a female VP. He definitely likes her, likely because of how effusive she is to him,” the person said.
Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy also reportedly told CNN, “President Trump thinks very highly of Elise Stefanik… She has been talked about in circles close to him as a potential vice presidential. And there’s a feeling among a lot of people on the Republican side that they need to have a woman on the ticket this time.”
Stefanik hasn’t commented on speculation she’s being considered to be Trump’s running mate, instead, she has centered her focus on helping Republicans take back control of the House of Representatives this November.
Candace Owens. Hands down….
As much as we all love Candace, she is no where near ready for that type of undertaking! Sorry, I don’t agree. While I say that, I do not believe anyone from NY is fit for the VP position.
Candace would be AWESOME! Elise is an exceptional choice too. Either one would be a great choice! Im so glad us conservatives have really good talented men and women for now and the future. We can make a HISTORICAL run into the rest of this century and run the Democrats into the ground if we make great choices after we get the majorities and the presidency and create great policies and well thought out laws and platforms. FJB
Tulsy Gabbard would be the best choice all around. More faithful to the Constitution and the American People and prepared.
Solid choice!
It would be great to see Elise, a real Lady, as our next Vice President.
WHO ?
Put DeSantis as his VP – I hope he does not do something stupid and pander to the female voters -they go for DeSantis also
Dumb Schitt. I would go with DeSantis
She might be a good running mate for DeSantis. I loved President Trump and what he did as president, but he has had his time. DeSantis is the best candidate to win and push forward Trump’s conservative policies.
If a female candidate would be the choice either Elise or Candace Owens would be my preference (for women’s votes obviously) but I definitely would prefer Mike Pompeo who has the dedication, loyalty, experience and integrity to be his running mate.
Pompeo would be an Awesome VP.
No, she cross the isle and voted for the bogus infrastructure bill that turned out to be a permanent bail out for her state. My choice is Marsha Blackburn. She’s school with intel, overseas, and has a clue what not only what a women is. She knows the head games dems are playing. How to stand up to woke brainwashed stupid people. Second Kristie Noems. Cause she was the female DeSantis. WE need a women that will stand up to the parties, to woke and stand firm on the CONSTITUTION. stefanik crossed the isle to easily
Incorrect President Trump is President and Commander in Chief V.P. John Kennedy
